I have to admit 2 things, one, I never had the perfect body, I had my ups and downs (gained weight, lost weight) two, I am very lazy to do clean eating. Not so fun fact: I had my gallbladder removed this year.
Me with my partner for life: Carbonara
Through the years I experienced different types of diet from crash diet, to juicing to just simple clean eating even see-food diet (rebounds do happen) lol. I used to be in training for cheerleading for so many years that is why weight management is one challenge. It does require strict discipline and as I go along the way I always realize that at the end of the day, I could never deprive myself. I do have cheat days but there’s a feel of total struggle to restart again. Kudos to those people who have managed to change their lifestyle completely! As for me, I looove comfort food way to much. It’s one thing I could never give up!
Fountain Milkshake (Watch out for my Strawberry Milkshake Battle here on blog!)
You had me at dairy and western food. My main weakness are cheese, milkshakes, burgers and pizza. My friends would usually rant at me if I say I would choose these over rice 😦 Don’t get me wrong I love Filipino & all other Asian Food! But I would trade anything for Sbarro or Providore, my favorite good food stops.
Providore at SM Aura, Taguig
How can you resist creamy pasta dishes sprinkled with freshly grated parmesan cheese?Providore’s Carbonara is served with egg which adds a touch of traditional Italian specialty. The bacon slab that comes with it is so crispy and tender that the meat falls by itself!
If I feel at times that I am eating way too much dairy and fried food, I would order something grilled and less meaty but still hearty, you know like let’s say seafood.
Providore’s Seafood Skillet. This brings out a different dimension of flavor, the mussels were sweet which was a great sign of it being fresh and the rest was greatly accompanied by the soft white rice.
Me loving comfort food, doesn’t mean that I don’t eat fruits and veggies, I love salad specially with cheese and tasty dressing.
(I know, I know dressing are loaded with calories) but I can’t help it! I guess the crisp and fresh greens suffices.
Providore’s special salad: Fresh avocado, crispy bacon, bleu cheese, cranberries & walnuts, arugula, market greens, topped with buttermilk ranch dressing. Mmmm, who says salad can’t make you happy?
Raise your hand if you have a sweet tooth! A few years ago, I may have the sweetest tooth ever! In a day, I used to binge on cupcakes, cakes, pastries, ice cream in just a few hours! I get whatever I can on the dessert table or in the fridge. Of course it took a toll on my health, I always had fever & sorethroat 😦 which is the worst feeling ever. So now I can say proudly that I had the biggest improvement in controlling my sugar cravings!
If I had to choose one above all these tempting desserts! I’d say go for the Ube Tres Leches Cake or the limited Ube Champorado! Ube with milk is just simply the best.
You know what I love and hate the most? The rain! It makes the weather cooler but makes me crave for food, a lot! Like this Ube Champorado, which was an original recipe of Cha Cha’s Boracay by Chef Kalel Chan, it is made with real ube & white chocolate loaded with Danggit! By the way Boracay is re-opening soon, make sure to check out the hottest resort and restaurant there, top rated by Trip Advisor 🙂
My friend who accompanied me shared about his childhood and mentioned that he is not a fan of Champorado in general, but when he got to taste this, (note that we barely left any space for dessert!) he’s the one who almost finished it X(
How do I deal with the guilt after eating? I don’t. Before, I used to stress about it a lot, but I just learned to let it go and say to myself “Jaey, we have talked about this loads of times already and you already made a solid choice – good food over instagrammable body” loll.
Seriously speaking though, I drink a lot of tea (Providore’s Tea Salon offers a wide range of selection) and water and talk a lot when I eat. That way I get to enjoy my food, the moment and my company!
Hooray to great food!!!
